AILIN McCATHAIL Really Irish

~ Ailin ~

Name meaning: an old Irish king
Sex:   male
Colour:   black, white mark
Owner:  Lenka Jarosova, Olomouc, Czech Republic (Sheela-na-gig kennel)

Successes: Czech wolfhound club champion,  Czech sighthound club champion, champion of BiH and SCiG, BIS winner, mutiple group winner, Club winner, Slovakian coursing winner 2004, Coursing Grand Prix winner, res. CACT

Ailin was Lenka's third wolfhound, but her first male, first black, first so tall, first so successful. He was Number 1! Despite his long show carreer he never liked meeting new people and was happiest at home with his family and his wolfhound friend, Mary, who he loved a lot.

He was healthy throughout his life and it was a great shock to all of us who loved him when he  developed torsion.  Although surgery was successful and he recovered from the anaesthetic, a few hours later he developed an arrhythmia, and couldn't fight any more.  Ailin died on 29 September 2008 at the age of 6.5 years.

ÁDH - MÓR Really Irish

~ Tara ~

Name meaning: "good luck" in Irish
Sex:   male
Colour:   black, white mark
Owner:   Ing. Tatiana Ratuská, Bratislava, Slovakia

Successes: BOB at a club show with 100 entries under Mr Foggarty from Ireland, 2x CAC, res. CACIB

Tara lives with his owner Tána in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. Their day usually starts before 5 o'clock, when they go for a walk, then Tara has breakfast and Tána goes to work. When she returns in the afternoon, she and Tara spend time with her other love, a wonderful horse named Gillar. Tána spends all afternoon and evening with Tara and Gillar, walking in the woods, usually with her friend Jana, who takes the excellent photos you can see in his gallery.

At the age of 7.5 years, Tara started to have some health problems and the vets weren't sure what was wrong for quite a long time until they found a tumour on his testicles. Fortunately it was benign, and after surgery Tara recovered well and now he enjoys life as normal.

AITHIR CHLIACH Really Irish

~ Merlin ~

Name meaning: an old Irish king
Sex:   male
Colour:   brindle, white mark
Owner:   Zoltan Olah, Szolnok, Hungary, Lahrob kennel

Successes: Interchampion, Grand champion, Show Champion, Champion of Hungary, Slovakia, Juniorchampion, Mutiple Group winner, Junior Best of Day, Derby winner, National winner . . .

Merlin lived with his owner Zoltán in the Hungarian city of Szolnok together with  other wolfhound friends. He was very gentle and lovely "person".

In 2006 he sired two litters in Hungary. The first, of nine puppies, was born in the Irvavagyon kennel to a wonderful fawn female, Irvavagyon Olga. The second was of five puppies to brindle girl Siegmound's Ariel in the Tata Tovarosi kennel.

Merlin died peacefully in his sleep on 17 November 2006, after he had developed occasional breathing problems. Unfortunately, there is no veterinary confirmation of the cause of his death, but we think it was a heart failure.

We would like to thank Zoltan for taking care of Merlin and for loving him so much. Merlin, we miss you . . .

ALMAGAIN ÉNDAI Really Irish

~ Edie ~

Name meaning: an old Irish king
Sex:  male
Colour:   brindle, white mark
Owner:   Jan Vrábel, Brno, Czech Republic

Edie is a very special boy in the litter. His brothers are great cat-hunters, but not Edie -  he is a cat nurse. He loves all the cats that live around his house and takes care of the little kittens. He is a fine wolfhound, but his owner is not interested in shows and allows Edie to live a life free from training, grooming or stress, but filled with great love and special friendship.

AMERGIN Really Irish

~ Harley ~

Name meaning: druid
Sex:   male
Colour:   black, white mark
Owner:   Zdenek Berka, Olomouc, Czech Republic

We are sad to say that we do not have much recent news of Harley.  As a puppy, his new 'mum' took good care of him - they went for a nice walks and spent a great deal of time together. But then, as sometimes happens, his family was divorced, and because officially his 'dad' is his owner, Harley stayed with him. His owner doesn't answer our letters or let us know what is happening with Harley.

However, we are vey happy to say that our friend Petr met Harley's owner recently, and so after several years we learnt that Harley is doing well and celebrated his 7th birthday in a good health.

ANAM-CHARA Really Irish

~ Tobiash ~

Name meaning: in Irish - my second ego
Sex:   male
Colour:   bridle, white mark
Owner:   Oswald family, Kadan, Czech Republic

Tobiash lives with a very nice family, although it's a pity that they are not interested in shows, as he is very handsome. After hearing some of the stories about him, I have to say that he has inherited the most from Ibella. Like his mother, he eats everything he can find. As a result, he had to undergo surgery at an early age because he ate a large bottle lid. Thankfully, he came through the operation very well and since then (fingers crossed for future!) he has only had to see the vet for his vaccinations.

ARAWN ANNVWN Really Irish

~ Arun ~

Name meaning: Irish king of the underworld
Sex:   male
Colour:  black, white mark
Owner:   Ing. Rostislav Repka, Czech Republic

Tragically, Arun died at the age of three months in a car accident. He was a very special young boy. We still miss him very much and are very sorry that his owner lost him so early . . .

Arun, please wait for us at the Rainbow Bridge, we long to see you again . . .

ARD-RÍ Really Irish

~ Garfield ~

Name meaning: honour of Irish kings
Sex:   male
Colour:   brindle, white mark
Owner:   Ing. Zdenek Hysek, Brno, Czech Republic

Successes: Junior class winner, Puppy coursing winner

Garfield lived very near us, in Brno, just 20 km away. He grew into a very big boy, I don't know for sure that he was the tallest of the litter, but I am sure he had the longest legs :-) He  was very gentle and self confident, and I was very proud of his wonderful friendly temperament. He died suddenly and completely unexpectedly on 7 June 2009, leaving his owners devastated.

ATH FIR DIADD Really Irish

~ Medy ~

Name meaning: place of famous Fir-Diadd
Sex:   male
Colour:  brindle, white mark
Owner:   Jaromir Hradil, Kromeriz, Czech Republic

Successes: Veteran class winner

Medy lived with us till he was eleven months old, and I thought we would never find anyone good enough for him. Then along came Mr Hradil and I knew that Medy had found his new owner.  He was the strongest boy of the litter, and had the most masculine head I had ever seen. He was quite a shy boy, who enjoyed his "pet" life in the middle of his family and pack, but he did great at the club show where I presented him in a veteran class under Mrs Kenis-Pordham. Unfortunately, only a few days after the show, on 5 October 2009, he died following surgery for an enlarged spleen, when his liver failed.

AILIS SCATHÁCH Really Irish

~ Eliska ~

Name meaning: noble, teacher of the warrior CuChullain
Sex:   female
Colour:   brindle, white mark
Owner:   The Polma family, Czech Republic

Eliska left us at the age of eight weeks and moved 300 km away to her new, very nice and loving family. She was the only girl in the litter and was my big hope for the future, but her bite was totally incorrect. I was afraid her family wouldn't want to keep her as they bought her as a show puppy, but it was clear that they also bought her for love and pleasure. Whenever we visited Eliska, we found  a thoroughly happy girl with very proud owners. Instead of show successes she gave her family all the love they could want every day. She was  big (about 86 cm tall!) and strong, with a very gentle and loving temperament.

Eliska died absolutely unexpectedly on 9 October 2009, when her heart failed while she was sooo happy about going out for her daily walk . . .
