Finally, we would like to share with you also some photos of Nikola, Lenka's son, who celebrated his first birthday and who is going to be a famous swimmer!

During the weekend of 12-13th January we took part in three shows in the Slovenian city of Ljubljana. We spent a lovely time with our friends, proudly showed Anna to her breeders, Jelena and Drazen, who hadn't met her since she was three months old, and met Anna's sister, Tara (Absolute Irish B&G), who is a wonderful and really big girl.
Our congratulations on Anna's sister, Absolute Irish B&G, who was awarded res. CAC and res. CACIB. We would also like to congratulate to Bettina dei Mangialupi, who won 2x CACIB and was BOB at the Sunday show.
Anna's results were quite awful (Excellent V., Very good and Very good III.), and her critiques were so crazy that I was angry that we had paid the entry fees to go under such judges. For example - on Saturday the judge said that Anna was a strong and nice female, but that she was limping. No one else saw her limp. At the evening show the judge said her movement was very good, but she lacked forechest. On Sunday the judge said that her forechest is really good, but she lacks substance :-))

Yesterday was full of news! For us, the best was a message from Sussu that Oiva's first litter had been born. And what a "good" father he is - 10 boys and 3 girls! MANY congratulations to the proud parents, Oiva and Enkeli!

Another nice litter was born at the kennel of our friend Petra Cechova - 5 boys and 4 girls, first holders of  the
Llawondyss name. Congratulations!
I spent the day at an international dog show in Brno where fifty wolfhounds were entered,  judged by Mr. Tibor Havelka from Slovakia. Full results and photos can be found on our club website, so here I would just like to pass on our congratulations to the winners and present a few photos of them. I would also like to say many CONGRATULATIONS to the Vojtek family, who had a great day with their Afghans, not only taking Junior female BIS, but also Veteran BIS and the Goup with their great nine year old Multichampion Fibi Gandamak, the most wonderful mover I ever saw.

And last but not least, it was a pleasure to share happiness and pride with Iva, whose home-bred Welsh Cardigan corgi girl,
Arianrhod Lucky Veles finished her juniorchampion title. Her brother won not only the junior class, but also BOB!

Sunday, 9 March - Hound Day at Crufts!  Again a wonderful experience for us, again a lot of wonderful dogs, again we met many friends and made new contacts. This year our McKenna wasn't the only Czech-bred wolfhound - a brother and sister, Phellean and Pendurdan Ionmhain Norman, and a young female, Kim Surycan, were also there. Even though none of them was placed I think they represented Czech Republic very well, and Pendurdan especially received some very nice comments.

Here are some photos that I took during the day . . .

We  had a busy month!

At the beginning of April Baboo (Baobhan Sith Really Irish) attended a "Bechovicky pochod" (a cross-country race for dogs and their owners) where she, David and little Niki won and got the prize for the best team! Well done, David! Mary (Mary Kay Ionmhain Norman) and Lenka finished in 6th place, in the top third, and in addition Baboo won the prize for the biggest dog.

At the same time Diva's brother Baruch was a racing in Lednice, where he came first. We are very proud of him, in spite of the fact that he was the only wolfhound taking part :-)

More good news from UK - McKenna (Brollachan Really Irish in Torteval) was shown under Mrs Jean Malley at the Irish Wolfhound Club Championship Show and placed third in the Limit Class, qualifying for Crufts again!!! And together with Darcy (Bribiba Hermione of Torteval) she was second best brace in show. Congratulations and a big THANK YOU to Paul and Anne Vaudin!

Then, we took part in two international shows in Celje, Slovenia, where the judges were Mr. Seamus Oates from Ireland and Mr. Primoz Peer from Slovenia. Cili and Cony (Ceridwen and Conchobar Really Irish) had their show debut and Anna went with us too. Cony did a great job winning the junior class on both days, including the Junior BOB title on the Sunday. On Saturday Cili was "very good" because she moves close behind, but on Sunday she did her best and beat two other females to win the junior class. And Anna .  . . Anna had her day. As usual, she was happy to be in the ring and proudly presented herself and won her first titles - 2 x CAC and 1 x res. CACIB. I was so very proud! Especially when I read Anna's critique by Mr. Oates: "Pleasing head, good ear set, nice flat skull, strong muzzle, good bite. Nice long neck, good lay of shoulder, deep chest, nice long back. Good bend of stifle, moving a little bit close behind."

I would like to congratulate Csilla Szabo, whose Be Fanny of Irish Cream won CACIB, BOB and third place in group on the Saturday and also the owner of Cudama Freya, who got the same result on Sunday. And last, but not least - big congratulations on Petra Omahen's Hulda, who won Junior BOB on the Saturday and finished her Slovenian Juniorchampion title!

While we were in Celje, Lenka attended a sighthound club show in Ceske Budejovice in Czech Republic with Baboo. Baboo was shown in the working class and was awarded CAC, with a wonderful critique: "Nearly 3 year old female, nice head, correct front legs, good top line and down line, deep chest, typical racing dog"

Far away in Russia, Vincent's daughter Yasno Solnyshko iz Volshebnoho lesa is also flying high. Having been awarded the title Juniorchampion of Russia, she attended some shows with a wonderful results:

National show Moscow:         CW, CAC, Best female of Breed
National show Moscow:          CW, CAC, Best female of Breed, BOB, 3. BIG
and with Angel Vremeni iz Volshebnogo lesa second best brace in show
International show Rostow:  CW, CAC, CACIB, Best female of Breed, Champion of RKF, BOB, 3. BIG
International show Rostow:  CW, CAC, CACIB, Best female of Breed, Champion of RKF, BOB,
                                                           BEST IN GROUP!!!

What great results at the age of just 16 months!  Sergej, Alla and Irina congratulations and THANK YOU!

Our next big thrill came during the first weekend of May, when Roxana presented Diva (Blodeuwedd Really Irish) at an international show in Klagenfurt, Austria. The girls did a great job as Diva won the open class with CACA and res. CACIB titles! Our congratulations also to Zoltan, whose Cu Chullain von Koppa's Hof won CACIB and BOB at this show.

On 10th May Merlin's son, Irvavagyon Robin Hood, who lives in Germany with the Weber family, was at a show in Tuttleben under Mr Baumann (D) and received a great result in the intermediate class:
Excellent I., VDH, CAC, Best male!

Vincent's puppies are going strong . . .

Over the weekend Vincent's puppies were really flying high! We were at a small regional show in Zlin with Cony, Cili and Anna for some show training before the EIWC. Because there were no other entered wolfhounds and all our three had to go in the ring in a row, I asked Ms Lucia Koterova, Best Junior Handler in  the Czech Republic in 2007 ,to help with Cili. She did something unbelievable – Cili showed herself beautifully and enjoyed her time in the ring, running with her head up . . . Thank you Lucka, for such an enjoyable experience!  And the results? Each of our dogs standing alone was a class winner, and Anna was awarded as a Regional winner.

On Friday at a Slovakian speciality Yasa (Yasno Solnitskho iz Volshebnogo lesa) won a junior class with CAJC and she repeated this success on Sunday at an international show in Bratislava! Many congratulations Sergej, Alla and Irina!

And at a national dog show in Novi Marof, another Vincent daughter, Tara (Absolute Irish B&G) had a great time, winning CAC, Best Female, BOB and BEST IN GROUP!!! Very well done Tara, Jelena and Drazen!

23 – 25 May 2008

What a weekend! We spent a wonderful three days in Kranjska Gora at the EIWC congress (Friday), EIWC show (Saturday) and Slovenian wolfhound speciality (Sunday).

The organisers chose a very nice venue for the event, ordered  good weather (which was delivered on time), we had a very nice personal welcome and enjoyed whole the weekend greatly. Many thanks to Davor, Andrej, Andrea, Petra and all the others who did such a great job.

In the evening there was a gala dinner, which Petr and I both enjoyed a lot - I enjoyed meeting and making many friends, and Petr enjoyed the great meal :-).

The night was fine, and it seems that the Hotel Kompas, where we were staying, knew all about Irish wolfhounds - they gave us a three-bedded room, which Anna and Cili greatly appreciated, whereas Cony enjoyed the balcony as he could watch all that was going on  - he is a really good guard dog.

The first of our dogs to be judged was Cony, who was simply great in the ring, standing and running nicely, and showing well. I very happy, proud and honoured that our judge Mrs. Maria Kavcic thought  highly enough of him to place him third in a junior class. Thank you, Cony!! And a very special thank you to Mrs. Kavcic.

Cili was also presented in a junior class and after our last experience I decided to ask Zoltan to handle her.  She looked fantastic with him and Mr. Sinko told us that her only problem is that she is a bit overweight (she definitely is :-) ), so she was awarded  "Excellent", but wasn't placed.

We are very happy to say "CONGRATULATIONS" to Anna's half  brother Big Foot B & G (Thor Della Bassa Pavese  ex  Vianho Dama), who went for BEST PUPPY IN SHOW!

And even more happy to congratulate to Petra, breeder and owner of Vincent's son, Foxtrot Roan Inish, who won the intermediate class with CAC and also became Slovenian Champion at the age of 19 months!

The Saturday evening barbecue was a very nice end to the day, where we were very lucky to meet new friends, but we were so tired that we went back to our room early.

At the Sunday show, Cony and Cili were both excellent and we waited a long time for the final placement in the bitch junior class. But it was worth it. In a class of very nice females, Cili was placed fourth!

Unfortunately, on both days  Anna was 'only' very good, but she was a very good girl in the ring and a truly great companion for us through the whole weekend.

After arriving back home, I found on the internet that Merlin´s son Irvavagyon Robin Hood had again done a good job in the show ring, winning again CAC, VDH and Best Male title, this time at a national show in Eilenburg (Germany) under Mr. Erdos.

As I said, there was an EIWC show on Saturday. There were two rings and four judges waiting for 140 entered wolfhounds from 16 European countries.

On Friday I attended the congress and found much to interest me in each of the lectures – Dr. Ludovica Salamon told us about artificial insemination; Mrs. Pat Pask about judging wolfhounds; Mrs. Dagmar Pordham about the famous Eaglescrag hounds; Mrs. Pernille Monberg invited us to the next EIWC Congress in Denmark in 201, and introduced a new project, a bio bank for wolfhounds; and Dr. Anna Blom presented the osteosarcoma research (and did it really well - more then 60 blood samples were collected during the weekend!).

31 May - 1 June  2008

This weekend we were again in the beautiful resort of Kranjska Gora. Only 10 km from where the EIWC congress took place there were two national shows, where wolfhounds were judged by Mr Urosevic from Serbia and Mr Harto Stockmari from Finland.

Our results were more than perfect:

Conchobar Really Irish -
Exc. 1., PRM, Junior BOB, BOB! And he finished his Slovenian Juniorchampionship!!

Ceridwen Really Irish - Exc. 1., PRM

Anna Vydra B & G - Exc. 1., CAC (and now we have to wait until April 2009 for the last CAC for her Slovenian championship, as there must be at least 366 days between the first and the last title).

The weather was too hot and we were too tired to wait for afternoon competitions, so we left the show and went to our hotel in Kranjska Gora, which this time was the Alpina. Well, I wrote that in the Hotel Kompas we had every comfort, so I don't know how to describe our accommodation in the Alpina - we had an apartment with two big rooms, four beds and a very nice balcony! The hotels in Kranjska Gora really know what it means to travel with an Irish wolfhound!

Because we didn't need any more titles for Cony and Anna, we decided just to show Cili  on Sunday.
Mr Stockmari judged her very carefully, wrote her a long critique and . . .  awarded her: Exc. 1., PRM, Junior BOB and BOB! And with this she finished her Slovenian Juniorchampionship too!

Many congratulations to Mr Hradil and Dr Chvatal and a very special "thank you" for allowing us to show Cony and Cili.

Merlin's daughter, Erin (Tata Tovarosi Bekes Arien), was at a special wolfhound show (Jahresaustellung) in Krenglbach, where she was a class winner, best bitch and Best of Breed at the age of only 22 months! Many congratulations to Erika and Wolfgang Stocker, Erin's owners.
